I would like to nominate professor Lenka Rovná, the founder and the current head of Department of West European Studies at Faculty of Social Sciences, Charles University Prague (1997). Today, the department comprises two master programmes – West European and European Studies.
Professor Rovná won many prestigeous awards for her contribution to the European integration. Since 1999 she is the bearer of Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence title in European studies. At the same time she was granted Jean Monnet Chair title and in 2006 Jean Monnet Chair Ad Personam title. In 2002-2003 professor Rovná was an alternate to the member of the Czech government in the EU Convention. In 2004 French President Jacques Chirac appointed her a Chevalier de l’Order National du Mérite (in European affairs).
Professor Rovná is also an author of many important books on European integration process and she is preparing interesting courses and lectures for her students at Faculty of Social Sciences. She is regularly invited to public and academic discussions on EU affairs. For her students, she represents an unattainable icon. Her contribution for discussion on European integration seems evident.Author :
